When the pipe has failed
Sewer repair & replacement
Replacement quotes should be written off footage, not off a blockage. We locate the failure precisely so you are quoted the section, not the street.
Sewer lines fail in specific places for specific reasons. A joint that roots have lifted apart. A section of clay that has cracked. A run that has settled into a belly and now holds water. Cast iron that has corroded through along the bottom. Each of those is a different repair with a different footprint, and the only way to tell them apart is to look.
We camera the full run, mark position and depth on the ground, and quote what actually needs doing. Sometimes that is a few feet of excavation. Sometimes it genuinely is a full replacement, and when it is we will show you exactly why on the footage you keep.

Common failure modes here
- Root intrusion lifting clay and cast iron joints
- Corroded cast iron with the bottom gone
- Bellied sections from settled or poorly bedded backfill
- Offset joints after ground movement
- Crushed or separated older pipe under driveways
Before you accept any quote
- Ask to see camera footage of the fault
- Ask for the position and depth to be marked
- Ask whether a spot repair was considered and why not
- Ask whether trenchless was assessed

A full line replacement is one of the larger bills a homeowner will see on a house. If nobody has shown you a picture of the pipe, you are being asked to buy a conclusion rather than a diagnosis. That applies to our quotes as much as anyone else's.
Straight answers
Questions about sewer repair & replacement
How do I know if I need a repair or a replacement?
By looking at the run end to end. A single failed joint with sound pipe either side is a spot repair. A line that is degraded along its whole length is a replacement. The camera answers it in twenty minutes and removes the guesswork from a five-figure decision.
Will you tear up my whole yard?
Not if precise locating can avoid it, which is usually the point of doing it. We mark the fault before excavating and we will tell you honestly when the run genuinely does require opening up.
